Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Professionals with significant experience in humanitarian field operations, particularly in emergency or high-risk environments.
  • Leaders who have successfully managed medium-to-large teams and complex budgets in challenging contexts.
  • Candidates with strong diplomatic and coordination skills, capable of building partnerships with local authorities and international stakeholders.

What should you think carefully about?

  • The role is based in Adre, Chad, a location characterized by significant humanitarian challenges and potential instability.
  • This is a 6-month consultancy contract, which, while renewable, is inherently fixed-term.
  • Candidates must be prepared for a high-pressure environment requiring rapid decision-making and a strong commitment to security protocols.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent fit for humanitarian professionals looking to make a direct, high-impact contribution to food security in one of the world's most vulnerable regions. It offers a unique opportunity to lead field-level operations, sharpen crisis management skills, and gain deep experience within the UN system, which can be a significant stepping stone for a long-term career in international development or humanitarian aid.

Our take

Experienced humanitarian managers with a background in emergency response and a high level of proficiency in French and English should seriously consider this role. It is less suitable for those seeking long-term stability or those who are not comfortable working in remote, high-stakes, and potentially volatile field environments.
