Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- You hold an advanced university degree in forestry, environmental sciences, or natural resource management and possess at least seven years of relevant professional experience.
- You have specialized knowledge in REDD+, climate change mitigation, forest management plans, or environmental safeguards within international cooperation contexts.
- You are fluent in professional English and have strong technical writing and interinstitutional coordination skills.
- You are an Argentine national or resident with a valid work permit looking for a substantive role based in Buenos Aires with domestic field mission flexibility.
What should you think carefully about?
- The position is offered as a National Project Personnel (NPP) contract starting with a three-month probationary period, which may carry limited long-term institutional permanence beyond project cycles.
- The role requires flexibility to undertake field missions across Argentina as well as participation in multi-stakeholder governance spaces.
- Strict adherence to FAO's professional integrity standards, mandatory online courses, and rigorous background screening is required.
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This role is well-suited for mid- to senior-level environmental professionals aiming to apply their technical expertise directly to large-scale international climate mitigation and sustainable forestry projects in Argentina. It offers valuable exposure to UN agency operations, green climate fund mechanics, and high-level stakeholder coordination.
Our take
Environmental and forestry professionals with substantial project experience who meet the residency and language requirements should seriously consider applying before the November 2, 2026 deadline. Applicants lacking the requisite seven years of large-scale project experience or required degree fields will find this position unsuitable.
