Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Professionals with extensive experience in rural development or agricultural project implementation in Nepal
  • Candidates with a strong background in community engagement, particularly with local governments and farmer cooperatives
  • Individuals proficient in digital data collection and reporting tools who are comfortable with frequent field travel

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a fixed-term, 100-day assignment, which may not be suitable for those seeking long-term permanent employment
  • The role requires significant field-based work in specific districts (Kavrepalanchok or Ilam), necessitating local presence and mobility
  • Candidates must ensure their educational qualifications are verified via the WHED database to meet FAO's strict compliance standards

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This opportunity is ideal for development professionals looking to gain hands-on experience with a UN agency project. It offers a clear, time-bound commitment that allows for significant impact in local agrifood systems, making it a strong choice for those seeking to build their portfolio in international development or climate-smart agriculture.

Our take

This role is highly suitable for experienced agricultural or rural development practitioners in Nepal who are looking for a short-term, high-impact field assignment. It is less suitable for those who cannot commit to the specific district-based field requirements or who do not meet the minimum five-year professional experience threshold.
