Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- Environmental scientists or geographers in Venezuela with over five years of GIS and remote sensing experience looking for direct UN agency engagement
- Professionals with practical background in environmental and social safeguards (ESRMP) and participatory community fieldwork
- Candidates based in or readily available to relocate to Zulia or Mérida states for sustained field execution
What should you think carefully about?
- This position is strictly limited to Venezuelan nationals or legal residents holding an active Venezuelan work permit
- The initial contract duration is limited to 11 months on a temporary National Project Personnel modality
- The role requires exclusive dedication and significant on-site time in Zulia or Mérida rather than remote work
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This role provides Venezuelan environmental specialists with valuable project management and geospatial modeling experience within a high-visibility GEF-8 initiative. It aligns well with professionals aiming to deepen their technical profiles in coastal-marine watershed management, multilateral safeguards compliance, and UN project operations.
Our take
A strong opportunity for Venezuelan mid-career GIS and environmental safeguards professionals ready for immediate full-time field deployment in the Lake Maracaibo basin. Candidates seeking long-term employment security or international remote contracts should look elsewhere.
