  • Ideal for students or graduates with a background in environmental science, disaster management, or international relations.
  • Strong organizational and data analysis skills are highly valued in this role.
  • Candidates who are comfortable engaging with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, will find this a rewarding experience.

What should you think carefully about?

  • The application window is very short, closing just one week after posting.
  • The role is strictly on-site in Colombo, and interns must arrange their own housing and relocation.
  • While a stipend is provided, it may not cover all living and travel expenses.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This internship is designed to provide early-career professionals with hands-on experience in international development and disaster risk reduction. It offers a chance to build a professional network within the UN and Sri Lankan government institutions while contributing to sustainable development goals. It is an excellent way to gain the practical skills needed for a career in climate resilience or humanitarian aid.

Our take

This is a high-impact opportunity for students or recent graduates in Sri Lanka or those willing to relocate to Colombo who want to start a career in disaster management. It is less suitable for those who cannot commit to a full-time, six-month on-site schedule or who require full relocation support.
