Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Students or recent graduates in computer science, data science, public policy, communications, or international development seeking direct UN experience.
  • Individuals with strong technical, research, or product design skills who want to apply emerging digital technologies and AI to global sustainability challenges.
  • Self-motivated candidates who thrive in fast-paced, collaborative virtual environments and want to build a global professional network.

What should you think carefully about?

  • The internship lasts for 3 months, which is a relatively short commitment for deep long-term project ownership.
  • While a monthly stipend is provided, interns are responsible for covering their own health insurance and any other uncompensated personal expenses.
  • Applicants must successfully complete a dual submission process through both the Oracle portal and an external Airtable form to be considered.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This internship is well-suited for early-career professionals or students looking to bridge academic learning with practical multilateral experience. It offers exposure to cutting-edge digital public infrastructure and AI applications within the UN system, serving as a strong stepping stone toward a career in international development, digital policy, or public sector innovation.

Our take

Candidates with a background in digital technology, data, innovation, or public policy who meet the educational prerequisites should strongly consider applying. Those seeking long-term employment stability or positions without dual application requirements may find this temporary fixed-term arrangement less fitting.
