Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Individuals with a background in dance instruction who are already residing in Europe and looking for flexible, part-time work within the military community.
  • Candidates who hold professional dance credentials or an Associate's degree in dance instruction, as these qualifications are highly preferred.
  • Applicants who value the opportunity to work in a supportive environment dedicated to the development and recreation of military and civilian families.

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a flexible, non-guaranteed hours position that does not include standard benefits like health insurance or retirement plans.
  • Relocation costs are not covered by the employer, so this role is best suited for those already living in or near the SHAPE, Belgium area.
  • The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift 40 lbs and stand for extended periods, which should be considered alongside the instructional duties.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent fit for someone seeking to build their instructional portfolio in a unique international setting. It provides a structured way to gain experience within the Department of Defense's Child and Youth Services framework, which can be a valuable stepping stone for those interested in long-term careers in youth development, recreation, or education within military or international organizations.

Our take

This position is ideal for dance instructors already based in Europe who are looking for flexible, supplemental work. It is less suitable for those seeking full-time employment with comprehensive benefits or those requiring relocation assistance.
