Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Strong fit for senior economists with substantial experience in policy research, advisory roles, and international development.
  • Ideal for professionals with expertise in sustainable development goals, macroeconomic analysis, and working with government counterparts.
  • Suited for candidates seeking high-impact regional and country-level engagement within the United Nations system.

What should you think carefully about?

  • Requires relocation to New Delhi, India, for the duration of the appointment.
  • The contract is offered on an initial one-year International Personnel Service Agreement (IPSA) basis rather than a permanent staff appointment.
  • Applicants must rigorously meet the extensive years of professional experience and educational prerequisites.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role offers an exceptional platform for experienced economists looking to shape national development strategies, drive SDG localization, and influence economic policy within a major international organization. It provides vital regional and global exposure in development economics.

Our take

Experienced economists with a strong background in policy advisory and a commitment to sustainable development should seriously consider applying. Candidates lacking the requisite years of advanced economic research experience or willingness to relocate to India will find this role less suitable.
