You may be a strong fit if…
- Professionals with extensive experience in security risk management within the UN system or similar international humanitarian contexts.
- Leaders with a proven track record of managing security teams and operations in complex or conflict-affected environments.
- Candidates who possess both strong analytical skills for policy evaluation and the practical ability to provide operational support in the field.
What should you think carefully about?
- This is a high-responsibility role requiring significant experience; it is not suitable for entry-level security professionals.
- The position involves working in a demanding humanitarian environment, which may include travel to field locations and managing security incidents.
- Applicants must be prepared for a rigorous background check process as part of the standard UN recruitment procedure.
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This role is an excellent fit for experienced security professionals looking to apply their expertise to humanitarian missions. It offers a unique opportunity to influence security strategy at a country level, build leadership experience within the UN system, and contribute directly to the safety of teams working in challenging environments. It is a strong career move for those seeking to transition into or advance within international humanitarian security management.
Our take
Experienced security managers with a background in risk management and team leadership should seriously consider this opportunity. It is less suitable for those without significant, progressively responsible experience in security operations or those who do not meet the specific language and educational requirements.
