Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • You are an active leader within an established Indigenous organization or network in Africa, Eastern Europe/Central Asia, Latin America/Caribbean, or the Pacific.
  • You have a proven track record of advocacy, policy development, or project management in climate change and Indigenous rights.
  • You have strong institutional backing and can easily secure regional endorsements for your nomination.

What should you think carefully about?

  • The role is entirely voluntary and unpaid, meaning you must be willing and able to dedicate significant time without financial compensation.
  • It requires a commitment to attend two international in-person meetings annually and participate in monthly online sessions.
  • Fluency in English is essential as it is the sole working language of the Green Climate Fund.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This advisory role is an exceptional fit for individuals aiming to influence global climate finance and ensure that Indigenous voices are integrated into international climate policies. It offers a platform to collaborate directly with a major multilateral fund, expanding your advocacy network and building deep expertise in global climate governance.

Our take

Indigenous leaders with strong organizational backing in the specified regions who want to drive systemic change in climate finance should apply. Those who require paid employment or cannot commit to regular, uncompensated international travel and meetings should look for other opportunities.
