Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Candidates with a background in human rights, law, or economics who are passionate about sustainable development and responsible business conduct
  • Professionals with experience in project coordination and multi-stakeholder engagement, particularly involving the private sector or financial institutions
  • Individuals who possess strong analytical and drafting skills and are comfortable working in a cross-cultural, international environment

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a short-term, 9-month contract, which may not be suitable for those seeking long-term permanent employment
  • The role requires fluency in both English and a local language of BiH, which is a strict requirement for effective stakeholder coordination
  • The position is part-time, which may impact total compensation and work-life balance expectations

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent opportunity for early-to-mid-career professionals to gain significant experience within the UN system while working on high-impact projects related to EU integration and human rights. It provides a platform to build a professional network across government, academia, and the private sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which can be a valuable stepping stone for future roles in international development, policy analysis, or corporate social responsibility.

Our take

This position is highly recommended for qualified candidates based in or willing to relocate to Bosnia and Herzegovina who have a strong interest in the intersection of business, human rights, and public policy. It is less suitable for those who require long-term job security or who do not meet the specific language requirements.
