Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Ideal for Tanzanian forestry professionals with significant field experience in the Arusha region.
  • Strong fit for candidates who excel at multi-stakeholder coordination, bridging the gap between international organizations, local government, and rural communities.
  • Suitable for technical experts in Forest Landscape Restoration who enjoy active field presence and site-level monitoring.

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a National Project Personnel (NPP) position, meaning eligibility is strictly limited to Tanzanian nationals.
  • The role requires a consistent field presence in the Monduli – Karatu landscape, involving frequent travel and outdoor site checks.
  • The initial contract is for 12 months, making it a fixed-term commitment, though renewal is possible based on performance.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to lead a major UN-backed restoration initiative at the landscape level. It offers the chance to apply technical expertise in agroforestry and land management while building high-level coordination skills within the UN system. For those aiming to influence sustainable land management policy and practice in Tanzania, this position provides a direct platform to work with both local government and international stakeholders.

Our take

Seriously consider this role if you are a Tanzanian national with a master's degree and five years of experience in forestry or land restoration. It is less suitable for those seeking a desk-based office role or international applicants, as it is a field-heavy national position.
