Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Young community leaders and founders from Global South countries with a proven record of driving grassroots sustainability initiatives
  • Advocates eager to directly influence global decision-makers and private sector leaders on critical climate and development goals
  • Individuals with strong English communication skills looking for international visibility and peer networking

What should you think carefully about?

  • Strict geographic restrictions limit eligibility exclusively to residents of countries on the OECD DAC list of ODA recipients
  • Mandatory travel availability for both the December roundtable series and the May/June conference in Hamburg is required

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This program directly serves young changemakers seeking international platform exposure, leadership growth, and high-level policy networking without financial barriers. It is an intensive short-term leadership engagement rather than a long-term academic or employment placement.

Our take

Eligible young sustainability leaders from the Global South who can commit to the travel dates should seriously apply. Those unable to travel in December 2026 or May 2027 will find the program unsuitable.
