You may be a strong fit if…

  • Professionals with a background in social policy or development who have direct experience working with government stakeholders or UN agencies in the Middle East
  • Candidates who possess the required bilingual proficiency in English and Arabic, which is essential for the communication and reporting duties of this role
  • Individuals with proven experience in results-based management and project monitoring who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced, technical cooperation environment

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a fixed-term, one-year contract for a technical cooperation project, meaning there is no guarantee of long-term employment or career progression within the ILO
  • The role is based in Beirut, Lebanon, a region currently experiencing significant political and economic volatility that may impact the working environment
  • Applicants should be prepared for a highly competitive selection process that requires specific technical expertise in social protection programming

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent opportunity for a mid-career professional to gain high-level experience within a major UN agency. It is particularly well-suited for those looking to deepen their expertise in social protection systems, policy reform, and international development cooperation. The position offers a platform to contribute to significant national-level initiatives in Lebanon, providing valuable experience in managing complex partnerships and capacity-building programs that are highly transferable to other roles in the humanitarian or development sectors.

Our take

This position is ideal for experienced social policy professionals who are fluent in English and Arabic and are looking to make a tangible impact on social protection systems in Lebanon. It is less suitable for those seeking long-term job security or those without the specific project management and technical background required by the ILO.
